summer rain (again)
This was quite a stunning sky and I was just on my way home a couple of weeks ago when I jumped out of the car to get a snap, unfortunately the shot doesn't really do it justice, It wasn't untill tonight though that I noticed the white dot on the horizon, turns out I had inadvertantly captured the bell rock lighthouse, about 11 miles out to sea and considered one of Scotlands greatest engineering feats of the 19th century, the history behind it is quite fascinating, click here and here

To think you caught the lighthouse! WOW. That was worth the entire shot, Padraig.
Padraig: Cheers Ginnie, I know LOL, I even managed to position it corrrectly without even knowing.
Even if the lighthouse wasn't there the shot is very nice. It must have been very windy as the rain courtain is not straight. Amazing!!
Padraig: Actually it wasn't, but yes, it must have been out to sea, thankyou Berta.
I like the portrait format you have chosen - it really emphasises the expanse of the sky. What an amazing feat of engineering the lighthouse is.
Ingrid
Padraig: Thanks Ingrid, yes one day I hope to go out on a boat and get some shot close up.
A brilliant photograph capturing so many colours, and the rain clouds letting loose!
Padraig: Thanks, I love clouds, like most of us probably.
Great capture of the drama of weather.
Padraig: Thanks Red, I guess its only us and gardeners that appreciate the rain..lol
Clever you Padraig: yoy've put thye lighthouse in just the right place in the picture. Love that rain snaking down!
Padraig: Thaks Chris, its allways quite funny when you find things in a shot you were unaware of at the time of hitting the button.
lovely clouds padraig
Padraig: Thank you, I'm a cloud fan!
I can never capture falling rain...this is so good! I must try f11...Particularly love the pink clouds.
Padraig: mostly just a matter of right place right time I think, would have gone to f16 but this was handheld. Cheers.
I must admit I didn't use my eyes as good as I should, I didn't notice the lighthouse before I read your text...Beautiful sky and a nice detail with the "white dot"
Padraig: Thank you
